Tax Manager

Full-time · 100% Remote (U.S.), no state restrictions · $110,000–$125,000 base, based on experience · Reports to Co-Founders Kyle Shields, CPA & Cameron Doe, CPA

About the role

We are hiring a Tax Manager who can own a book of clients from first email to filed return. Most of our work is tax preparation and review, so a strong technical tax background matters more than anything else on this list. You will also touch bookkeeping and payroll support when clients need it. This role has a clear growth path: as you prove out independent client ownership, you will move toward a Senior Tax Manager role tracking return progress and deadlines across the whole firm.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review S-corp, partnership, and individual tax returns
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for your own clients — by email, phone, and video
  • Support QBO and Xero bookkeeping and payroll tasks when clients need it
  • Flag technical issues and planning opportunities to clients directly
  • Keep returns on schedule and communicate proactively on status, extensions, and blockers

Qualifications — required

  • CPA or EA license
  • 5+ years of tax experience with strong preparation and review background
  • S-corp tax return experience
  • Proficiency with Lacerte, QuickBooks Online (QBO), and Xero
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within firm deadlines
  • Comfort explaining tax concepts to clients in plain language, on phone and camera

Preferred

  • Experience at both a small firm and a larger firm
  • Partnership tax return experience
  • Prior hands-on bookkeeping or payroll support experience

Compensation & benefits

  • $110,000–$125,000 base salary, based on experience
